Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Save Bug Resolved with Latest Patch

In this post:

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox save bug is now fixed with a new patch.
  • Xbox players could get banned for capturing explicit content in the game.
  • To stay safe, turn off auto-upload for captures on Xbox.

In an effort to address the long-standing save wipe issue in Baldur’s Gate 3 for Xbox, Larian Studios has released a patch specifically designed to tackle the problem. After months of frustration for players who reported losing their progress without warning, the issue appears to have finally been resolved.

A Welcome Solution for Players

The save bug, which plagued the game since its shadow-drop during The Game Awards, has been a major source of frustration for Baldur’s Gate 3 players on Xbox. While Larian Studios had attempted to fix the problem and even offered temporary solutions, it was eventually revealed that the root cause of the issue lay on Microsoft’s end.

With the release of the latest patch, players can finally sigh a sigh of relief as their saved progress is no longer at risk. However, to ensure the safety of their saves, players are advised to create a Larian account and enable cross-platform saves in-game.

Even if they don’t plan to play on other platforms like PS5 or PC, this precaution ensures their saves are securely stored in the cloud. If the Xbox patch doesn’t work as intended, players can easily re-sync their saves when they launch the game again.

Banning woes for capturing explicit content

While the same issue may have been resolved, another problem has surfaced for Baldur’s Gate 3 players on Xbox – bans for capturing explicit content. Some players found themselves in hot water after taking screenshots or recording videos of more intimate moments in the game.

Initially believed to be an error with automated moderation, it was later revealed that bots did not trigger these bans. Still, it resulted from breaching Xbox’s safety and content policies. Xbox’s default feature automatically uploads screenshots and videos to cloud storage, where they are monitored. Thus, capturing explicit scenes within the game can lead to an account being flagged and banned.

Larian Studios acknowledged this “annoying and uncool” issue and attempted to work with Xbox to find a resolution. However, Microsoft’s response was straightforward – players should disable auto-upload to avoid such bans.

Baldur’s Gate 3 cautionary note for players

As players continue to explore the diverse and sometimes provocative content within Baldur’s Gate 3, they must exercise caution when capturing screenshots or videos of explicit scenes. Failure to do so may result in their Xbox accounts being suspended.

In light of this, players are advised to turn off auto-upload for their captures, ensuring they do not inadvertently violate Xbox’s content policies and risk being banned from the platform. This simple precaution can help players enjoy the game without facing unintended consequences.
