Dogecoin creator only made 3000 from DOGE

Dogecoin (DOGE) is currently the world's largest meme cryptocurrency and the 10th largest in the digital currency market. DOGE's market capitalization sits around $7.8 billion, yet the creator made an unbelievably small amount of money from the iconic crypto.

In a tweet in March, Dogecoin creator Billy Markus, slammed many project founders for being greedy to milk millions from projects that turned out to be scams and failed.

Markus revealed he only generated $3,000 from creating Dogecoin, which is now worth billions of dollars, with hundreds of global users. According to him, Dogecoin would not have survived if the creators were greedy.

"Dogecoin would have failed if Jackson and I were greedy, 100%. Nowadays, excessive greedy and scammy creators are handsomely rewarded. But their products all fail, for obvious reasons," Markus wrote.

The popularity of Dogecoin saw the creation of hundreds of similar meme tokens, all contention for market attention. However, a number of these tokens have lost steam and are worth almost nothing.

DOGE's price is currently trading around $0.05905 on Coinmarketcap. The meme token has been struck heavily in the current crypto winter, as its price was down over 91% from its all-time high of $0.7376 in May 2021.
