Gaming meets blockchain

The company behind Assasins Creed and Far Cry has announced that it would support Ultra, a blockchain-based gaming platform. Recently, many companies that appeared “classic” have now adopted blockchain technology for one purpose or another. It was no surprise that the company chose EOS as a host. EOS is one of the most popular blockchains for gaming dApps. Ultra revealed the partnership in a Twitter post.

Ubisoft would act as a block producer for the UOS network. The relationship would be mutually beneficial as Ubisoft’s computing power would be utilized to process trades on the network. These trades include the transfer of in-game items and payments relating to them. Ubisoft has revealed that it will soon begin contributing to the testnet. If it succeeds, it will become a part of the launch team.

The partnership is the world’s first example of a global-level company teaming up with second-generation platforms like EOS.

Ultra chose Ubisoft as its computing power would greatly assist in the platform’s growth. Nicolas Pouard at Ubisoft stated that the partnership would be beneficial for his company as it is their first venture into the blockchain.

He added that Ubisoft could help UOS to expand the experiment. He believes that this could open the door for future possibilities. Such partnerships will increase the rate of blockchain adoption and make mainstream adoption possible.

Ubisoft has previously partnered with crypto exchange Bitfinex as well as EOS Rio and EOS NY.
