For the first time in more than five years, a community gathering focused specifically on Bitcoin will convene in North America at Bitcoin 2019, a two-day conference to be held at SVN West in San Francisco from June 25–26.
By assembling legacy voices alongside contemporary thought leaders, the conference aims to reconnect a fractured community around its collective goals and highlight the people and ideas driving the technology forward.
Ten years after the first Bitcoin block was mined, cryptocurrency is one of the technology and finance industries’ hottest topics and has generated divisiveness within its community.
Balancing an exploration of current technical issues and macro societal trends, the event program features notable early adopters like Bitmain Co-founder Jihan Wu and ShapeShift CEO Erik Voorhees, alongside industry thought leaders like Morgan Creek Digital Co-founder and Partner Anthony Pompliano and Blockchain Capital Bitcoin Fellow Jimmy Song.
Other noteworthy conference speakers include ARK CEO Cathie Wood, who was the first public fund manager to invest in Bitcoin in 2015, and Stephen Pair, CEO of BitPay, the leading payment processor of Bitcoin globally.
David Bailey, CEO of conference organizer BTC Inc, said:
“We need to expand the intellectual frontier of Bitcoin. That means: educating new users about the philosophical tenets that underpin the system, cultivating and highlighting future generations of Bitcoin leaders, expanding Bitcoin’s utility and showcasing its progress, improving developer access to review, contributing code and improving interindustry communication. Perhaps most importantly, we need to make Bitcoin fun again.”
Inspired by the annual gatherings that took place in the technology’s infancy, Bitcoin 2019 will be an interactive conference experience focusing on connecting the community.
The three-story venue will feature a number of areas for networking and an intimate breakout stage for roundtables, presentations and workshops.
The event floor will showcase cutting-edge trends, like Lightning micropayments, and feature installations from leading artists in the Bitcoin community.
Ancillary to the conference will be the Bitcoin Games, a global, virtual hackathon competition for the Bitcoin community’s best and brightest to participate in hacks surrounding technical innovations as well as nontechnical ways to grow the Bitcoin ecosystem.
In line with the mission of Bitcoin 2019, the Bitcoin Games are designed to challenge the Bitcoin community to continually innovate in order to push forward the influential technology.
Bitcoin 2019 is open for registration to individuals from any sector, with ticket prices starting at $199. To register and for additional information, visit www.bitcoin2019conference.com.
