Seven thousand (7,000) crypto mining machines got discovered during the campaign to investigate illegal electricity usage in Tangshan City, China.

The campaign exercise, which was held in the Kaiping District of Tangshan City had the Tangshan police inspect 1,470 villages, 70,000 families in their homes, 3,061 business enterprises, courtyards, mines, and factories.

The investigation by the Tangshan police that intercepted the 7000 crypto mining machines began in April last year and since then identified 6,890 application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC miners) and high-voltage transformers numbering 52. According to the CCTV news on the 22nd of December, these illegal crypto miners illegally make use of electricity from nearby communities.

The ASIC miners consume power amounting to 40 times the electricity usage of a regular family, and as they operate 24 hours a day, the consumption rate is alarming.
