Dutch reporter and a television host Jort Kelder recently uncovered the wrongdoings of a Bitcoin scam by exposing the Bitcoin scammer himself, through a skype video.
Bitcoin scams are the new normal in the cryptocurrency world. As cryptocurrency-related businesses thrive on bringing in layers of security in a cryptocurrency transaction, fraudsters keep upping their game in terms of creativity. This is why a quick Google search for Bitcoin scams turns up thousands of articles related to phishing attacks and Ponzi schemes. And just when you think Bitcoin scammers couldn’t stoop any lower, there is always the next one that takes the bar slightly higher, or lower in this case.
Among many creative ways of deceiving people, impersonating celebrities or famous public figures have become commonplace, so much that some scams did not spare the likes of Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet or the Royal family of the UK.
An investigation led by a popular Dutch media outlet Brandpunt, several organizations are involved in cryptocurrency scams by facilitating improper use of resemblance or famous people. In one such, Dutch television host Kelder was able to catch his impersonator red-handed for using his likeness and allegedly tempting people to invest in Bitcoin schemes.

Dutch host faces Bitcoin scammer live

According to the Youtube video published on Oct 02, Kelder called out the Bitcoin scammer who misused his identity. Reportedly, the scammer used Kelder’s face to fake news articles that appeared to endorse phony Bitcoin investments on his behalf. The false advertisements attempt to deceive its readers into investing in Bitcoin through a series of compelling headlines involving Kelder.
Kelder, when standing up to one of the Bitcoin scammers, asked him to put an end to this nuisance and demanded that he takes down all such articles featuring his name. He concluded the confrontation by assuring the scammer of his jail time.
Meanwhile, Kelder is considering taking legal action against the organizations which were uncovered following Brandpunt+’s investigation. Reportedly, he is also establishing a foundation to combat celebrity impersonification for unwarranted activities. In doing so, he is seeking support from fellow celebrity victims, such John de Mol, creator of Big Brother, who is currently engaged in a legal scuffle with Facebook over unapproved use of his face in suspicious adverts.
