Samsung Signals AI Expansion to Galaxy S22 Series

In this post:

  • Samsung’s EXYNOS 2200 chipset proves capable of handling new AI functions for the Galaxy S22 series.
  • Future AI enhancements to Galaxy S22 are likely, to enhance device performance and value.
  • Samsung cautiously approaches AI integration, balancing innovation with user experience.

Samsung, in the wake of the Galaxy S24 launch, initially indicated that the Galaxy S22 series might not receive the new Galaxy AI features due to hardware constraints. However, recent developments suggest a change in direction. TM Roh, the head of Samsung Mobile, hinted in March that older models could soon benefit from Galaxy AI technology. This shift was further substantiated by Samsung’s recent communications, which hint at an upcoming expansion of AI features to more devices, including the Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung’s new language support hints at broader compatibility

A recent press release from Samsung about expanding the supported languages for Galaxy AI suggests broader compatibility for older devices. The release notes that new language packs will be available for download across all devices that support Galaxy AI. This list currently includes the Galaxy S24 and S23 series, among others, with an indication of “more coming soon.” This statement has led to speculation that the Galaxy S22 series and possibly the newly released Galaxy A55 and A35 might also receive these AI enhancements.

Technical feasibility of AI on Galaxy S22

The possibility of releasing an AI-powered version of Galaxy on the Galaxy S22 range has been one of the topics Samsung has been exchanging words about. Initially, many experts were worried that if the upcoming EXYNOS 2200 chipset, which is responsible for the power of the Galaxy S22 doesn’t meet the AI requirements, the new AI features won’t work.

Meanwhile, recalibration may be seen not only as an obstacle but also as a stepping stone. The test results seem to demonstrate that the hardware is indeed capable of handling the AIF functions. Consequently, this approach is directly related to Samsung’s higher-level direction to experimentally pull the ropes on the optimal AI use in the core of the devices and on the cloud, as described by the company’s Head of Customer Experience, Patrick Chomet.

Continuous assessments and prospects of the project

Although the company did not provide a formal announcement or commit to a specific timeline, the latest comments by the executives seem to point to a yes, with the added AI features to the Galaxy S22 series one of the points that are likely in the future. The corporation has to be slow in AI infusion throughout its product range being weary of negatively influencing device performance, and user experience, since sacrificing one of these noir aims is unfeasible.

However, a recent Samsung operation, as well as their statement, will make users of Galaxy S22 start using certain AI apps, which were used for newer models before. Such a move will dramatically increase the functionality and the life span of older products resulting in bettering their performance and keeping up with the high level of innovation which is the key objective for Samsung. With the S22 Galaxy owners still waiting for the next update, they can also download the latest security updates which will patch up the security and bring the device to a standard level of performance.
